Search for Books, Ebooks, and Media at ODU Libraries

Visit the library homepage at odu.edu/library to find Monarch OneSearch. Monarch OneSearch searches for print books, electronic books, and media owned or licensed by Old Dominion University Libraries. It also searches some but not all of our databases. It's the best place to search to find out what books and ebooks the ODU Libraries own, and it can also be a good starting place to find articles.

In ODU Libraries, books are shelved using the Library of Congress classification system. The classifications for history are D, E, and F.  The more specific areas are:

  • D  General History
  • DA  Great Britain
  • DC  France
  • DD  Germany
  • DF  Greece
  • DK  Russia
  • DS  Asia
  • DT  Africa
  • E  United States
  • F  US, Canada, Latin America

LOCATION:  Books with call numbers beginning with D, E, or F are shelved on the 3rd floor.  Perry Library Floor Plan.

Browsing in any of these areas may lead to the discovery of valuable material in addition to the specific items listed in this guide. History dissertations written by ODU students are available on the 3rd floor of Perry Library at call number LD4331.H47.
