Publishing Open Educational Resources

Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching, learning, and research resources that reside in the public domain or are released under a [Creative Commons] license that permits free use and re-purposing by others. Recently, interest in OER has grown tremendously due to rising textbook costs and institutional missions to save students money, as well as a greater desire to share educational resources widely. [From bepress Web site]

Digital Commons is a tool that provides a platform for OER that includes open-access textbooks, course materials, lesson plans, and other tools that faculty can use to preserve their OER and provide stable access for students.

ODU faculty have started including their OER in ODU Digital Commons: https://digitalcommons.odu.edu/oer/
