This guide will help you with finding resources for argumentative writing and other English Composition assignments.

Argumentative Essay Tutorial

The Argumentative Essay Tutorial was designed to assist students in learning the concepts and skills needed to complete argumentative essay writing assignments. After completing the tutorial, students will be able to:

  • Determine what types of sources are needed for an assignment based on the assignment instructions
  • Identify characteristics of scholarly and general audience sources
  • Find scholarly and general audience sources by using Monarch OneSearch and CQ  Researcher
  • Evaluate sources based on relevancy to information need and credibility

The tutorial is housed in a Blackboard Organization titled "ODU Libraries' Tutorials & Support for English Composition Courses." It uses an interactive software that includes activities, quizzing, stand alone content, and videos. It takes 20-30 minutes to complete.

This tutorial includes audio and closed-captioned.
