Find Full Text

EndNote offers a Find Full Text feature that may find the article pdf and attach it automatically. This works best if you're on campus.

1. Highlight one or more references in your library.

2.  Click the Find Full Text icon
or go to REFERENCES  / FIND FULL TEXT from the top menu.

When EndNote finds a full text file, a link is saved to the File Attachments field of the record. The actual file (usually a PDF) is stored in the .DATA folder. A paper clip icon appears in the File Attachments column of your references list.

CAVEAT -- "Find Full Text" does not work consistently.

  • If the article does not have a DOI (digital object identifier), it may not be found.
  • If the ODU Libraries subscribe to multiple copies of the online journal, EndNote will not provide a link.

It may be necessary to download the articles to your computer, and attach them individually.

OR, you can configure your EndNote Preferences (see below) to find articles to which the library subscribes.

Configure your EndNote Preferences

Go to EDIT / PREFERENCES from the top toolbar.

In the EndNote Preferences box check each item and fill in the OpenURL Path and URL as shown below.

Open URL Path:  http://zp5x6zm2k.search.serialssolutions.com

URL:  http://proxy.lib.odu.edu/login?url=
