Information Literacy Tutorials

FAQs and Troubleshooting

Can students take the tutorials more than once?

  • Yes! Participants can complete the tutorials as many times as necessary.

How do students get a quiz score?

  • Students can print or screenshot quiz scores at the end of each tutorial.

How do I access the tutorials?

  • You can get to the tutorials through the ODU Libraries' Information Literacy Tutorials space in Blackboard. Detailed directions can be found here.

Can you embed the tutorials into my course in Blackboard instead of having my students enroll in My Professional Learning?

  • No, unfortunately we cannot do this. Enrolling in the Blackboard Organization is the only way to access the tutorials.

Do I need to tell someone if I am using the tutorials with a class?

  • It is not required but it is useful for the Teaching & Learning Initiatives Department to have your contact information in case changes or announcements are made. Please email lrush@odu.edu if you are using the tutorials with a class.

If you are having trouble using the tutorials in Blackboard, please check...

  • Your browser. The tutorials work best in Firefox or Chrome, so you may need to switch browsers, or make sure your browser is up-to-date.
  • Enable pop-ups. The tutorials open in player "pop-up" windows; if you have a pop-up blocker on, the player may not open.
  • The player may be open "behind" your browser window. Try minimizing your browser to see if the player opened behind it on your screen.

If you are having trouble enrolling in the Libraries' Blackaboard Organization, please check...

  • Are you using the correct Midas ID and password?
  • Has your Midas password expired?
  • Are you able to access other courses and spaces in Blackboard?

If you are still unable to access the Libraries' Blackboard space, but you can access other courses in Blackboard, please contact ITS. If you have accessed the Libraries' Tutorial space but are having trouble using the tutorials, please contact Lucinda Rush, lrush@odu.edu.
