Library and Information Studies

Welcome!

Welcome to the Library and Information Studies library guide. This guide provides information and resources for getting started with research in the library studies field.

Getting Started

Monarch OneSearch is the ODU Libraries' search tool. It provides access to all of the Libraries' physical collections and some of our virtual collections by searching across our catalog and selected databases. It's where you want to go if you are searching for print and electronic books, anything in our physical collections.

The video below explains what Monarch OneSearch is, and how you can get started with using it.

For additional help, refer to the Monarch OneSearch Help library guide.

Research and Writing Help

If you need a little extra help with you research, you can set up an online or in-person appointment for help with your research questions. The libraries' subject specialists are available to help via email, phone, or virtual or in-person appointments.

If you find a resource that is not available through ODU, please use InterLibrary Loan (ILL), a free service that allows you to request journal articles, books, and other research materials.

You can also get help with your writing from the Writing Center.
