For each question related to spaces we are meeting minimum expectations. The comments section included some suggestions for improvements to the Libraries' spaces.
For each question in the collections category we are meeting minimum expectations overall. Print collections meet desired expectations overall and for undergraduate students. For some questions, we are below the minimum expectations for faculty.
For each service question we are meeting minimum expectations. We exceed expectations for "giving users individual attention" and "employees who are consistently courteous". There were no big differences among user groups, although graduate students and faculty expressed greater satisfaction.
Users were asked to rate on a scale of 1-9 five items related to information literacy. The average rating was 7.48. The highest rated item in this section was "the library enables me to be more efficient in my academic pursuits or work."
The following themes were noted in the open comments section of the survey:
Participants were in-general appreciative of the library spaces. A need for more outlets was an identified theme. Participants desire more individual study space, and a more modernized aesthetic.
Participants are appreciative of our collections. The Naro Video Collection emerged as a recurring theme of positive appreciation. Participants noted a need for more journal subscriptions and mentioned several specific databases. Participants expressed a desire for more popular and leisure books.
Participants find library personnel to be very helpful and kind. There is an appreciation for academic and research assistance, and library instruction and workshops.
Overall participants have good experiences with navigating the library interfaces to find resources. On the other hand, some noted that finding sources can be cumbersome and confusing. Encountering broken links was a theme among participants. Participants are appreciative of Interlibrary Loan.
Participants find the study rooms to be dirty and in need of better furniture and soundproofing. Participants would like more study rooms and a different booking system and rules.
Participants appreciate that ILL is fast. Some say they would not use it if they had more access to articles directly, and that the process is tricky.
Participants are appreciative of the resources and guides available on the website as well as the librarians and staff that assist with research.
Participants indicated that Perry Library is dirty, with trash often overflowing and food left out in common areas. Library spaces are in need of regular deep cleaning.
Participants noted that technology in the study rooms is often broken. They are appreciative of the ability to borrow equipment.
Participants would like larger and more worktables, more comfortable seating, and a more modern look.
Participants appreciate the library instruction and workshops that are provided. They noted a need for more workshops and programming.
Some participants appreciate the quiet spaces in the Libraries, and others find it to be too loud and want more designated quiet spaces.
Some participants have difficulties wayfinding and locating books in the stacks.
Participants are quite pleased with the support provided by the Hofheimer Art Library staff. Participants find printing in the Libraries to be cumbersome.
