Tips

• Identify your stakeholders. What do they know about the Libraries? What do you want them to know? What should they do with the information?
• Select 1-2 topics for advocacy each semester, and 1 data point for each topic
• Practice your "elevator speech." How will you convey your message in 1 minute or less? What action will you ask your stakeholder to take?

Existing Data

Every department within the libraries collects data on a regular basis. Here are a few examples of data that you might use when advocating for the Libraries:

• Web usage stats
• Number of requests for scans, books, research appointments, and more
• Library instruction data
• Door counts
• Collections usage
• Statistics collected by the tools we use such as Springshare, LibGuides, Chat, Alma, and more
