Associations, Societies & Organizations

Many professional organizations, associations, and societies exist for various sub-disciplines within ocean and earth sciences. Many offer student membership options and can be great ways to connect with others in your field, find mentorship opportunities and resources, and advance your career. A couple examples are below.

American Geosciences Institute
AGI "represents and serves the geoscience community by providing collaborative leadership and information to connect Earth, science, and people". This links to the AGI maintained list of member societies.
American Geophysical Union
"AGU is a global community supporting more than half a million advocates and professionals in the Earth and space sciences."
ASLO: Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography
"ASLO fosters a diverse, international scientific community that creates, integrates and communicates knowledge across the full spectrum of aquatic sciences, advances public awareness and education about aquatic resources and research, and promotes scientific stewardship of aquatic resources for the public interest."
The Hydrographic Society of America
