Researching ODU History

The High Hat was the student newspaper of the Norfolk Division of the College of William & Mary from 1930 to 1961.

The Mace & Crown has been the student voice of Old Dominion since its first publication in 1961. The newspaper gives the student voice to numerous issues on campus life.

The Gadfly was a literary magazine at Old Dominion from 1962 to 1972 and featured artwork, poetry, satire, essays and photography by students for students. Topics discussed in the magazine pushed the envelope and caused tension between administration and the students.

The first yearbook, the Cauldron, was published in 1936 and documented the students and student life at the Norfolk Division of the College of William & Mary. The next yearbook was published in 1946 and had a continuous run until 1972, and was again revived in 1988 and ran until the last yearbook was published in 2007.

The student directories include directory information for administration and students enrolled at the Norfolk Division and Old Dominion from 1955 to 2004.

Student handbooks provide facts about the Norfolk Division and Old Dominion, maps of campus, rules and regulations, college songs, and maps of campus from 1948 to 2002.
