ODU and EVMS Library Integration FAQ

Effective with the ODU-EVMS merger on July 1, 2024, the Brickell Medical Sciences Library, including its facilities, services, staff, and collections, became a part of the larger Old Dominion University Libraries organization. Under the direction of the Dean of Libraries, Brickell will continue to provide the same excellent service to its users in the School of Medicine. It also began serving faculty and students from the School of Nursing, College of Health Sciences, and Joint School of Public Health, which fall organizationally under the Executive Vice President for Health Sciences following the merger.

What facilities are part of the ODU Libraries?

Effective July 1, 2024, the ODU Libraries will consist of four library locations on two campuses:

• Patricia W. & J. Douglas Perry Library (ODU)
• Elise N. Hofheimer Art Library (ODU)
• F. Ludwig Diehn Composers Room and Music Library (ODU)
• Brickell Medical Sciences Library (EVMS)

Will EVMS students and faculty have access to ODU campus libraries?

Yes. Anyone may visit ODU's three campus libraries during regular hours. Between midnight and 8am, Perry Library is restricted to users with ODU ID cards.

Will ODU students and faculty have access to the EVMS campus library?

Yes. Brickell Medical Sciences Library is open to all users during regular (staffed) hours. Outside of staffed hours, the library will be restricted to users with EVMS ID cards only.

Where do I park at ODU?

The closest visitor parking garage to Perry Library is 43rd & Elkhorn. An ODU parking permit or hourly payment is always required to park on campus.
