The Libraries offer a wide range of resources and services to support your research.

Library Services

Faculty/Grad Student Research Carrels:

  • Spend a lot of time in the library? Request a carrel for your research needs. Research carrels are assigned to ODU faculty members and graduate students with demonstrated need to use library resources for a given research or writing project, on-campus sabbatical project, doctoral dissertation, or master's thesis. See Procedures

Printing/Copying in the Libraries:

  • Printing is available to students, faculty, and staff at Perry #1-6 stations in the 1st and 2nd floor Learning Commons. All six machines are multifunction print/copy/scan devices that print or copy in black/white ($0.05/sheet) or color ($0.50/sheet).
  • Using MonarchPrint, you can upload or email your document(s) to the Monarch Print cloud and pick up your job from any campus printer within 24 hours.
  • Faculty and staff can use a unit budget code if available or add money to your personal MonarchPlus. More information at MonarchPrint.
  • A photocopier is located in the Learning Commons near the multimedia stations:  $.10/page.

Scanning in the Libraries:

  • Scan from any one of the Perry #1-6 printing stations in the 1st and 2nd floor Learning Commons using the “Scan and Send” option and email the scan. Note: no OCR option.
  • Microform scanners are located on the 2nd floor.
  • Faculty and Graduate Students can also use our Document Delivery Service through Interlibrary Loan to request a PDF copy of an article or book chapter available at ODU Libraries (or elsewhere) using your ILLIAD account and receive it usually within 2-3 workdays. Copyright restrictions may apply. Contact ILL (757-683-4170) for more information.
